Another exercise might make chairs look useless. Position yourself against a wall as if sitting in mid air with the wall as your support. Keep your back straight and your legs in a 90 degree angle. Your thighs will be doing the work for you to let you stay in this position. You will feel them shake in a short while. Know your limit and do not over do it. You might have a hard time just walking up the stairs, what more dunking a ball.

This exercise prevents knee injury and helps you get a better sense of balance. It is done by standing on a ball, that easy. For first timers, do this near a wall and use it as a support. As you get better in balancing, a wall might not be necessary at all.

The next exercises are typified as plyometrics, which is seen by many as the best way to increase vertical jump. Plyometric drills aim to increase a person's explosiveness. One such exercise can be done by holding a ball and then jumping to reach a specific height for the ball to reach. Do this in repetition. If you want to do this regularly, increase the height of the target instead of increasing the number of leaps. Another similar exercise is performed by tipping the ball in the backboard as practice. In basketball, you might not get the rebound by tipping it can keep the ball alive. Line drills, jumping sideways over an obstacle and jumping 30 jumps where in you changes the position of your landing are also exercises under plyometrics.

Aside from these exercises, do not forget that diet plays an important part in the program also. Take a high dose of protein and potassium. Slack off on those fast foods you keep on eating and start eating healthy.
